HOW DOES PETO PILATES® WORK?

We’re proud to offer sessions and classes for people who live with disabilities. With Peto Pilates we adapt Pilates exercises to help people with movement and neurological disorders like Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Ataxia and Stroke.

Our Peto classes

Beyond Move’s founder Noemi was originally trained at the International Peto Institute in Budapest. Our classes are based on the principles of Peto combined with modern Physio Pilates.

About the Teacher and her training:

About Dr Andras PETO & Joseph PILATES

They were ahead of their time and changed people’s lives

We love these pioneers – who were so hugely committed to their movement systems. At Beyond Move we teach both their methods, either separately or combined as needed.

Our modern lives have changed dramatically since the time of Peto and Pilates. The techniques they taught us – to mindfully correct our movements – are just as important now as they were when they began.

Andras Peto

Peto actively tried to prove that despite the damage, the nervous system can still make new neural connections, which can be mobilised with the help of properly guided teaching and learning.

Joseph Pilates

“Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.” Pilates is more than just a physical exercise and can radically enhance mental, emotional and spiritual well-being too.

The sessions of Peto Pilates at Beyond Move are the highlight of my week. They provide therapy, both physical and emotional. The exercises tackling the spasticity in my legs have enabled me to make astonishing progress – I am beginning to walk with strength, independence and balance for the first time in several years.

Suffering from MS has left me isolated and housebound, and this wonderful class enables me to get out, enjoy the friendship and solidarity of other class members and feel a sense of freedom to enjoy life.

Here is a teacher – kind, compassionate and skilful – who provides the exact equipment and exercise I need to make safe progress. She challenges and stretches me, and I treasure every second of the class. The benefits are too many to list – helping enormously with pain when walking and inner wellbeing.

Every person is affected differently by these conditions

We don’t offer a one-size-fits-all approach. For the best results, we modify exercises for each individual.
